HOW IT WORKS

Honey: Honey is believed to prevent the growth of bacteria, viruses and yeast, and reduce inflammation. It has both soothing effects and antioxidant properties. Over the past several years, there have been several studies reporting the efficacy of honey in the treatment of cough. Honey has been found to be extremely effective for symptomatic relief of cough. Honey’s effect was found to be comparable with dextromethorphan (a common OTC cough medicine) but without any side effect. A clinical trial conducted on acute cough in children found that honey administered before bedtime, would decrease coughing in children between the ages of one and 5 years—and improve sleep for both the children and their caregivers.
