Capsicum annum: Fruits of this plant contains an active substance called Capsaicin. Capsaicin improves the sensitivity of nerves in various neuropathies. It also relieves pain sensation in case of some painful neuropathies. Capsaicin works on pain by binding to the VR 1 receptors and stripping nerves of substance P, a pain-signaling neurotransmitter. Capsaicin tends to be more effective on chronic pain -- such as that of peripheral neuropathy -- rather than pain that is short-term and acute.
Centella asiatica: Various studies conducted on this plant show its benefit in protecting the nerves and preventing nerve damage.
