Botanical Name: Tribulus terrestris Linn.
Family: Zygophyllaceae

Description: Tribulus is a low-growing flowering plant with small yellow flowers. Although native to the Old World, it has become naturalized throughout the rest of the world in warm climates, and can thrive in deserts and other poor growing conditions. It grows as an annual in colder climates. 

Chemical constituents: They contain a number of different substances including saponins (protodioscin, furostanol), flavonoids, alkaloids, resins, tannins, sugars, sterols, and essential oil.

Properties: Tribulushas been of value for such problems as skin irritation, insufficient milk production, itchy eyes, and urinary-tract and reproductive-tract problems in both men and women. In India, it has been valued as an aphrodisiac and for its benefits on the urinary tract.
